Scramble
An accumulation of audio remixes in combination of pixel kitties to create a new audio composition with accompanying feline visuals.

1) Compile a list of songs OR set your preferred audio player to random/shuffle.
2) Chose one song to begin on.
3) Count the number of spoken/sung lines in the song. You may choose a “line” from the provided “official” lyrics or how they sound to your ear, but you must stick with that decision for all songs.
4) Take the first line of the first song, the second of the second, the third of the third, so on and so forth, until you have as many lines as there are in the first song.
*Your final line must be the final line from the first song you used.
5) Open the songs in an editing program and place them together in order.
6) Create images at least loosely involve cats/felines for each line of the new song in a pixel program such as Microsoft paint or an equivalent.
7) Place images to new song, share the new story.

Additional Rules/Information

You may exclude lines of sound such as “woah” or “ah.”
You may use instrumental songs, but must determine a standard time frame for the length of a “line.”
Try to create a story for your new song, or at least, create an established set of characters.

Here's a rough cut/example of what part of a final product would look like:

In the study of classical art, you see painting after painting by "masters" of art. While traditional mediums will not die and will continued to be practiced there are an old medium in today's digital world. In the world were old programs die and are swept over by new shiny features, there is an excess of outdated art programs. But what is our classical digital art form?

Pixel programs. That's right. Close photoshop and open up MSPaint. (Or the Mac version or similar program.)

The challenge I set for people is to take images of those from contemporary history who, if they were living in a different time, would be sure to have paintings, etchings, or statues commissioned of them. Draw and color them in your basic paint program, and post the comparison.

*If you wish to draw a historical figure please use an existing painting as reference
*If working in a pixel program such as Pixen, which has layer capabilities, do not use them.
* Attempt to imitate a style of painting with the program, even if it's just in how you think about coloring it.

This is the idea of how to create this project:

Step One- Select a significantly lengthy text. (I.e. a book, a newspaper or two, couple magazines.)

Two- Go through the text page by page (or column by column if you have an article based text.) selecting and recording the same words as the page number (first word of first page, second word of second page, so on. Articles may be done by paragraph if you like.) If you run out of words for the corresponding page (say if you had only 120 words in paragraph 130) start back from the top of the page/paragraph.

Three- At the end of the text, take the words you gathered create a new story. You may omit words or change tenses, but please keep it to an absolute minimum. Names of characters, places, or story specific items, fictional or real, may be altered, as anagrams if you feel you must. (Nonsensical names are fine.)

Four- present your story in the same form as the original, or as close to the original format you can get. For cover imagery, or front-page photo, use an altered version of that from your source.

Approach 1/Example:

The words below are taken from the first 8 chapters of Gregory McGuire’s Wicked, excluding the prologue, 57 pages. 5 words omitted. Not overly coherent.

Words:
From the breathed time the Melena Doorways flinty-toothed hamlet worked by the her the nasty with must well he was Melena humbly not don’t Nanny gold the breakfast had root she his though and the and calfskin Melena until larger her Nanny no course his said hamlets curse don’t the two cruel to young love slur ground.

Musings

From the larger hamlet, the flint-toothed Lenema worked by her doorway. “The nasty calfskin was cursed.” She humbly said to her.

“Well, until the time young Nyann had the ground-root breakfast with the hamlets. Though the two don’t love gold, ‘course.”

“Nyann. ‘Don’t he breathe with his cruelty?” Lenema slurred.

This is a song-fic for the Harry Potter community I belong to, The Hideaway.

It was an attempt to try something a little different, time and experiences through time with a common bond.

Title: Observation
Rating: I don't think it's even PG-13...but...
Warnings: contains het and slash.

Well I had to create a portfolio web site for a digital art class I'm in. That's the good news. The bad news is that until I can find cheap server space I won't be able to post it here as it has my full name. And I don't feel comfortable spreading that across the internet. x.x And I doubt it will work completely well in internet explorer as I don't touch that browser. (yea yea, I'm non-mass compatible. )

But I think I promised sketches and other works of things here, did I not? So here a few exclusive (well kind of!) things!

Sketches and WIPs )
